She has struggled with it for the last 7 years. She left behind her husband and her eleven years old son. Her family has a one day wake yesterday and this morning at 9am was the cremation. We got news yesterday night at about 7.45pm via Seah Siew Hong & Thiam Hwa. A group of us 10 to 15 classmates & families managed to be there to express our condolences to her family and pay our last respect to her. The last two gatherings, she was cheerful and chatty. I had the impression that she had triumphed over her illness. I have regretted that I did not do something more for her during those times after our reunions, either calling or organize visits to her or even just be a listening ear. It never occurred to me that things will happen so fast, so sudden or so unexpected to things & people around us. I hope and pray that I will be able to do more for my love ones, people around us and people we know.I remember her in HPS days as a very tall, strong, tough and very sporting girl. She is so good in sport that she won a lot of medals for the green house (Venus). Please do remember her and her family in your own little way and prayer. Regards, Yew Lai

Dear Dot and All HPS friends and Teachers Time really flies and wait for no man. We are all so happy to have catch up with each other at the beginning of SARS and last year end too with our dear friend, Siew Hoon whose life on earth "fully stopped". She was such a cheer to some of us who communicated with her and trusts all who are present and met her, would remember her love of family and us, her treasured classmates and teachers.Last night, the few of us who are available, visited the wake and bid our last goodbye to her and her grieving family. It was all so sudden and so impromptu that this happened and yet the Spirit of HPS FRIENDSHIP is flying with Great Honours that even husband and wife of our buddies came along too. Well this is what TRUE Friends are all about! No conditions and no 'buts' just TOGETHERNESS. THANK YOU to ALL my friends and Teachers of HPS. Surely we all will look forward to meet again in person, alive, to enjoy our friendship for we know not when will the next chapter or book be closed. Let's treasure our togetherness. Oh, even in email is fine too. :) Cheers to many more good days and years ahead for us all. Cheerio Christie

It saddens me to hear of the loss of one of our good friends. As most of us were not able to pay her our last respect, let's pray for her and her family. I have a very vague image of Siew Hoon. It will be nice to place a condolence message with her picture in HPS website.

Hi Dorothy,
I am very sad to see your message on my e-mail this instant as I have just got back to Singapore last night. It really hurts to know that one of our classmates have to go this early. I met Siew Hoon during the reunion we had at David's place and I did not even know that she had cancer. I am truly sorry for not even being able to pay her the last respect. I will pray for her and her family . Do keep in touch and by the way my new mobile phone number is xxx-xxxx (number suppressed for security reasons).
Regards, Paul Soon Chin Poh

Dear Yew Lai
Thank you for informing me about Siew Hoon's passing. Sorry I did not read my mail so I missed out on the > news.
I met S Hoon earlier this year at IMM. She told me abt her cancer and how she struggled on all these years for the sake of her son. She was cheerful and brave. Unfortunately she succumbed to that dreaded disease. I shall pray for the Lord to comfort the grieving family.
We must all take care of our physical and spiritual health. Eternity spent with a loving God is the only comfort one gets when one faces death.
Take care Joyce Yeow

I am sad to read of Siew Hoon's passing away. Indeed she was in Venus (green) House. She was one of the taller and stronger participants in the House. The other runners and House mistresses used to cheer her on and were proud of her effort. She shared her medical problem at the first gathering. Although she was not her usual self physically, she gave me the impression that the problem was under control.

Hi everyone My heart goes out to Siew Hoon's family during this time of bereavement. May our Good Lord grant them strong hearts during this time.
I was pretty active in every of our school sports day and Siew Hoon is always towering over everyone competitors and must have send shivers down their spines just by standing next to her.
During our 1st gathering she looks frail and quiet to me as I always remembered her to be physically big and strong during school days.I would have been more sensitive to ask then to let it pass by. At least then I would have whispered a little prayer for her.
To all my teachers and classmates, I pray that our Mighty God who give life abundantly and eternally (to those who ask of Him) will grant good health to you and your families.
Take care. David Ng(ann eng)
